Investing for Good: Making change together
There was real excitement about the potential of social impact investment among participants at the end of the Investing for Good Conference and Marketplace held by OSII and the NSW Council of Social Services (NCOSS) last month.
The one day conference explored the opportunities and challenges of the emerging social impact investment market, how organisations and people can get involved and where the opportunities are to deliver better outcomes for the most vulnerable people in our community.
Voices from all parties involved in an impact investment were heard, with speakers sharing their experiences from all stages of developing a social impact investment, highlighting different perspectives, challenges and lessons learned, and reflecting on what they would do differently.
The event brought together people from a range of different sectors: not-for-profit, academia, governments, investors, service providers and finance. It created opportunities for discussions, engagement and building new relationships.
While Investing for Good was a great conference, more activities and events like these, especially those that bring together people from different sectors, are needed. These events can help build the capacity and preparedness of market participants, grow the market and promote understanding across and about the social impact investment market.
