OSII presented at an impact investing conference on 15 July

Dr Caralee McLiesh spoke about the growth of social impact investing in NSW and the NSW Government's work in this emerging field at Impact Investing: Social and financial innovation in for-purpose organisations on 15 July 2015.

Representing the Office of Social Impact Investment, Caralee talked about why the NSW Government is pursuing social impact investing and where we see the benefits and opportunities. She explained more about our social benefit bonds and what we've learned – and are still learning – from developing and implementing them. She also described key initiatives we're implementing under the Social Impact Investment Policy.

The conference aimed to help for-purpose organisations move beyond traditional sources of funding and towards social impact investing. It was a great way to introduce some key concepts and demonstrate the potential of social impact investing to a diverse group of senior people from for-purpose organisations. This included sharing real life case studies of Australian deals that have been put together and organisations that are moving into the social impact investing space.

Caralee was joined by other Australian leaders in social impact investing from for-purpose organisations, financial institutions, philanthropic foundations and market intermediaries.
